How to Create Reminders in Calendar in iOS 18

Add Reminders to the iOS 18 Calendar App

A significant improvement in the iOS 18 The Calendar app is integrated with Reminders, so you can manage everything in one app. Here's how to get started.

Managing schedules and tasks can quickly become overwhelming when you're juggling apps. Apple's latest iOS 18 update addresses this problem by allowing you to create reminders directly within the Calendar app, streamlining the process and ensuring nothing slips through the cracks.

This new feature eliminates the need to constantly switch between apps to keep track of tasks. It's worth noting that this functionality isn't entirely new — similar integration has long been available when using third-party apps like Fantastic.

With iOS 18, Apple is integrating this functionality into its ecosystem, making it more accessible to users who prefer to use native apps.

Create reminders in Calendar

In iOS 18, managing tasks within the Calendar app is easy, thanks to separate tabs for events and reminders. Here's how to create a reminder:

  1. Launch the Agenda app.
  2. Tap on the plus button top right.
  3. Tap on the Memory to create a new memory.
  4. Enter the title, date and time.
  5. Crane Add.

On the Reminders tab, you can add details such as writing a note, setting a recurrence for the reminder, and selecting the Reminders list where the reminder should be placed.

If you tap 'Details' at the bottom, you'll see even more options, including adding tags, locations, images and URLs, setting an early reminder, and showing the message in the Messages app.

Three iPhone screens with a calendar, a new event reminder form, and detailed reminder settings including time, date, location, and priority options.

In iOS 18, managing tasks within the Calendar app is easy

If you select the “When Messaging” switch, the reminder notification will appear when you're chatting with a person in Messages. If you turn it on, an option will appear to choose the person. For example, your partner texted you to pick up milk from the store.

While iOS 18 lets you create reminders in the Calendar app, that doesn't mean the Reminders app is now obsolete. You can't create Calendar events directly in the Reminders app.

The Calendar app is primarily for scheduling events, while the Reminders app is dedicated to managing tasks. It offers a more specialized approach to organizing and tracking your to-dos.

There’s still a connection between the two, though: Any reminder you create in the Reminders app will automatically appear in the Calendar app, so your tasks are visible alongside your events. The integration improves visibility without diminishing each app’s unique strengths.
