HSE Chief Paul Reid will resign at the end of the year.

In a message to staff today, Reed said he had made a “heartfelt” decision, making it the most difficult decision he has ever made regarding his career.

“It’s really rewarding to lead an organization where staff work every day to improve people’s lives.

The minister paid tribute to Mr. Reed’s resignation today.
Donnelly said: “Since being appointed Chief Executive Officer in June 2019, Paul Reed has provided HSE with exemplary leadership.

“During the pandemic, Paul played an important role in guiding Ireland’s response to the greatest health emergencies of our time.

Reed said his decision was influenced by two key factors.
