Huawei CEO shares video of HarmonyOS 3

Huawei will host an event on July 27 where we will see the debut of Harmony OS 3. Huawei CEO Richard Yu decided to tease a new feature of the new platform on his personal Weibo account: new widgets on the home screen.

Each group of apps can now have separate tabs in the folder on the home page, and can also be grouped in a rectangle, giving you quick access to some programs while keeping things together. Here’s the video, shared on Twitter by @RODENT950:

HarmonyOS is Huawei’s internal operating system, based on AOSP – it is an open source platform after all. However, it is not a simple skin or a redesign like many other user interfaces; Huawei has worked tirelessly for the past year and a half to make Harmony as independent as possible.

The event on July 27 will take place in China and Yu will likely reveal the domestic timeline of updates. We’ll let you know as soon as we hear about the global launch.
