A YouTube daredevil took part in a scorching 5km run in Kuwait City, the 'hottest city in the world', where temperatures reach a staggering 53.9 degrees Celsius.
Although the mercury dropped to 'only' 51 degrees Celsius during his visit, the heat was so intense that locals described it as a 'choking' feeling due to the extreme temperatures.
In a message to his followers, Ben Morris YouTube said: “I can't express in words how this heat feels. Since 2016, this city has been recording temperatures above 50C, with a peak of 53.9C.”
Describing the immense heat he faced, Ben said: “Over 4 million people call this place home. I feel like I'm in a sauna. This is insane.”
Despite a national heatwave warning, Ben braved the conditions. He said: “I decided to visit at a time when there was a national heatwave warning coming. The floor is boiling, I'm dying. My thermometer is 51C,” reports the mirror.
Ben described the scorching heat in Kuwait this way: “I've never been in heat like this before. I think I underestimated how hot it really was here.”
During his trip, Ben encountered a local guide who described the overwhelming heat this way: “You can’t breathe,” he agreed, adding that people feel like they’re “choking.”
To make his adventure even more exciting, Ben attempted a 5K jog in a more bearable 102 degrees Fahrenheit. He told the audience, “I decided to test how hot it is outside. It's 5:30pm right now and it's 102 degrees Fahrenheit.”
He took the challenge head-on, noting, “I want to see if I can do 5km without dying or passing out. Ladies and gentlemen, please don't try this at home. The heat is starting to make me dizzy, it's weird.”
Kuwait City is often called the hottest city in the world, with temperatures soaring above 50 degrees Celsius. Locals describe the city as 'uninhabitable' during the summer months. Birds are even thrown out of the sky due to the extreme heat.
In response to these harsh conditions, authorities in the Middle Eastern country have banned outdoor work during the peak summer period.
During the visit, the scorching temperatures caused Ben's camera to break down an hour after arriving. You can watch more of Ben's experiences on his YouTube channel here.
