Mocking one of the world’s biggest music mogul is a bold move for up-and-coming entertainers. Don’t worry if you want to win Britain’s Got Talent.

But that was a strange situation. Danny Postil, 35, from Hartlepool, noticed in 2015 when he tried to impress the BGT judges with a celebrity.

Danny surprised the crowd with a parody of Billy Connolly, John Bishop, Gary Barlow and David Beckham, and received a standing ovation from the crowd to advance to the finals.

He enjoyed Simon Cowell several times and entertained the audience, but “Mr. Nasty” clearly told him he was “not happy” about it and needed to improve.

In a chat with The Sun, Danny claims that his £ 490m dad tried to get himself back with “nasty” comments just by being booed by the crowd.

“Simon didn’t like my actions, so’I didn’t think your Beckham was very good. Anyone can do him!'” Danny recalled.

“So I challenged him,’If anyone can, I’ll do it.’ I could say he wasn’t happy, and the audience started chanting,’Do! Do! Do!’. He saw. Was. ”

Nasty also described Danny’s actions as “obsolete” and “old-fashioned,” and said he needed to “raise the bar” to win the show.

“Then I asked,’Why did you do Billy Connolly?’ And Amanda Holden replied,’Simon because we’re in Scotland,'” Danny said.

“So I said,’Thank you Amanda,’ and said to Simon,’Because Simon is in Scotland.’ That hurt him even more.”

Danny also “takes p ***” from the head judge while impersonating Michael McIntyre. It was inspired by the previous spats between Simon and David Walliams, who hosted the Royal Variety last year.

“It was rubbing salt on the wound,” admitted Danny. “It wasn’t the best idea to announce one of the biggest figures in the entertainment world.”

Eventually Simon brightened and said, “You got a good reaction because you are funny and there are people like you.”

Danny was worried that their previous clash could endanger him going further on the show.

“Then I thought Simon was going to connect me, but he didn’t. I was grateful,” he added.

“He must have met so many people before I went on stage.

I thought Simon was going to tie me up afterwards, but he didn’t, and I thanked … he must have been spending *** days

The playful round trip with comedian Simon was never broadcast on television. He is grateful.

Danny said:

“But when I look back now, I often came across it, so maybe I wanted to cut it out. After all, Simon is Gafa.”

Danny said it was the producer who proposed to involve the judge in his actions-and believe it to be a wise man’s move.

He recalled: “I joked about Amanda not wearing a bra for a week, and the audience loved it.

“Then I imitated Ant and Dec. It got millions of views online.”

Private hearing

Danny admitted that he went out for a couple of beers while waiting for the BGT audition.

Danny, who will be performing at this year’s Edinburgh Festival Fringe, did not officially apply for the show, but was invited to audition for one of the BGT producers.

He was one of 30 comedians who tried to impress at The Hen & Chickens Theater Bar in London in late 2014 and was called a month later.

Danny wanted to audition in Manchester, but was advised that his “best bet” was to try it out in Edinburgh.

“They were a bit far from where I lived, but were told it was the first day of the judge, so they thought I was likely to pass,” he explained.

“They said,’Don’t worry we fly you there and take you to the hotel.'” I was thinking, “Wait a minute, they’re on my flight and in the hotel. Are you paying for it? “I thought it was a little weird.

“I was worried that it was a joke. No one knows what they’re crazy about at a show like this, but that’s the risk I have to take. I knew that. “

Cheeky pint

Danny claims that the team told him what impression he should make and what impression he should exclude.

“The producer wanted me to make a lot of impressions on the first audition, but I knew it was strategic and I needed to save some if I proceeded to the next round. “He explained.

On audition day, Danny “had to wait for hours” before being finally seen by the judge.

“I arrived early around 2 o’clock, but I didn’t get on stage until about 9:30, so it was a long day,” he recalls.

It was really boring.I was really nervous and restless … so I sneaked into the pub

Danny Postil

“Everyone has been hanging around for years. When you sit down and chat, they ask you a question to film your VT backstory.”

Over time, Danny’s anxiety grew and he sneaked into a local pub.

“It was really boring. I was really nervous and then restless,” he said.

“I thought,’I’m not waiting here,’ so I sneaked around the side door and went to the next izakaya.

“I was only an hour away and had two pints before coming back, but the producer wasn’t wise.”

“Hands-on” producer

Danny argued that the team was very practical throughout the process.

“The producer told me not to impersonate some people because they weren’t famous enough,” he said.

“One of them was Johnny Vegas.” How can I say he’s not famous enough? ” And I was really stressed about it.

“I was recording a video for them, but they would say,’Well, I’m not sure about this,’ and a little back and forth.

“They suggested that we should learn a new impression within 24 hours of the show, but I decided to do something comfortable.”

Danny was mostly pulled out because of a severe migraine, but was “filled with painkillers” to get over it.

He was seventh overall, with the dog trick duo Jules O’Dwyer and her dog companion Matisse winning.

“Blocked by MP”

Since 2015, Danny has played around the world, appeared on multiple television shows and has gained several well-known fans.

He claims that spoofing is “the greatest form of flattery,” but not everyone agrees.

Danny recalls:

“Martin Lewis jokingly said my attempt was a” good attempt “, but it had to be” more butch and less camp “-and Judge Linder absolutely loved me. ing. “

During the blockade, Danny writes a memoir, The Non-Essential Worker, and debuts his new show, Stand Up For The People, in August. This show gives you a glimpse of what a comedian would do if he ran the country.

Danny joked that comedy is the only thing he can do after trying a lot of “normal work”, just because they end up in a disaster.

“I was a glass collector and a window fitter. I worked in sports shops and offices, but none of them lasted long,” he said.

“Even when I was working with my uncle as a window cleaner, he sent me to get a new cloth, and some local kids stole our ladder. I did.
