On the In-N-Out website you will find explanations for some of the most popular sandwich varieties.

“Okay, you’ve heard the rumours, wondered what it said, maybe you even felt a little left out,” the website reads.

“But in reality we have no secrets at all.

According to the famous fast food chain, any slang you hear around their orders is just slang for how they prefer to prepare their burgers.

One of these popular variants is the 4X4.

The 4X4 or Quad Quad has “four 100 percent American beef patties, hand leaf lettuce, tomato, spread, four slices of American cheese, with or without onions,” all on a freshly baked bun.

If that’s a bit much, you can always take one less patty and order the 3X3 or Triple Triple.

And of course, if you order “double meat,” you can get two burger patties instead of just one.

Don’t feel like meeting each other? You can get all the patty-less fixings in a grilled cheese.

This comes with two slices of American and with or without onions.

For all the keto adherents, there’s a lettuce wrap option that won’t stress you out about carbs.

Just say you want your burger Protein Style, and you can still stick to the trendiest diets.

And finally, arguably the most popular In-N-Out term is Animal Style.

This is a mustard-cooked beef patty with pickles, grilled onions, extra spread, and all the other regular fixings.

This comes as we revealed the symbol behind the palm trees outside In-N-Out restaurants.

The fast food chain is known for its iconic palm trees planted around the perimeter of the restaurant.

But what most customers don’t know is that there is a secret design hidden in the trees.

Eagle-eyed customers may notice that two palm trees at an In-N-Out look slightly crooked, with the trunks crisscrossing each other in the shape of an “X”.

What most people may not know is that the “X” is intentional and pays tribute to one of the founder’s favorite movies.

“The founder of In-N-Out BurgerHarry Snyder, wanted to pick a symbol that would set In-N-Out apart from other restaurants,” said Kathleen Luppi, the restaurant’s communications specialist.

“He chose an idea he picked up from the early 1960s movie It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.”

The 1963 film tells the story of a group of motorists who race to a California state park, where a secret stash of money is believed to be hidden under a “big W.”

At the end of the movie, the group comes to the park and finds palm trees in the shape of a “W” where the treasure is located.

Harry Snyder reportedly loved the film so much that it inspired him to plant palm trees outside his restaurants in 1972, but chose an “X” instead.

According to the official history of In-N-Out, the decision was so that Snyder could mark the spot of his own symbolic ‘treasure’.

“Because every In-N-Out store is Harry’s treasure, a tradition of planting cross palms begins for most In-N-Out locations,” the website reads.

Not every restaurant has the intersecting trees as evidenced by the wording in the official history. However, it’s still a fun fact that makes for great conversation.
