WITH rising inflation and everyone worrying about spending more money on everything from food to fuel, stress levels have gone through the roof and are keeping many up at night.
An interior designer shared five tips for reducing some of that stress at home — so it feels more like a retreat.
The self-proclaimed “design daddy” who uses the handle @MrPhoenixGrey shared his tips on a TikTok post that has more than 8,000 views.
Here are the five changes he suggests to de-stress.
1. Art
The designer says in his opinion “art will always be in the foreground”.
He says it’s crucial to choose art that will elevate you, and says you should always include artwork in your bedroom.
“It’s the first thing you see in the morning and the last before you go to bed — so you want something inspiring.”
For more personal pieces, he suggested finding a friend to create the artwork, or support a local artist.
That can be a triple win for you, the artist and your local community.
2. Home Fragrances
The TikToker said this is a great way to “brighten up your space and create a scent that is you.”
Some of his suggestions included carved candles, incense diffusers, and his personal favorite – a line of incense cones from Interesting people.
3. Color:
Phoenix said that color plays a big role in the mood of your home space.
“White, green and blue will always bring that calming energy to a space,” he said.
4. Natural light
The interior designer said it’s the best way to “flood your space with positive energy.”
Not everyone has the luxury of lots of natural light, so to compensate, the expert suggested placing a mirror on the other side of a window so it reflects more light into your home.
5. Green
Last but not least, try adding a pop of greenery in the form of plants.
The design dad says it will not only add elegance to your home, but many houseplants are natural air purifiers, which he says are “the best and most natural way to de-stress a room.”
Phoenix’s post got more than 900 likes and dozens of comments.
One poster said it was hard to decide what to change first.
“Too many choices! It’s impossible for me to select anything. I need guidance.”
The designer replied, “start with one for now, like finding a home fragrance.”
Another follower said: “Your opinion his ideas are always perfect. Thank you.”
And a third liked the tips so much that she said, “Please do a banking series. I want to know your favorite picks.”
