iPhones Need Type-C Ports In India Post Govt Order

iPhone

If you’re an Android smartphone user, you probably don’t have to worry about finding a charger if you’ve left yours at home because almost everyone has a Type-C charger these days. But the same is not the case with iPhone users. iPhones come with a Lightning port which is very different from a Type-C port. The tech world is striving for standardization to make things easier for both consumers and manufacturers. But Apple likes to differentiate itself from its peers and offer users something different. For example, the iPhones come with a Lightning port. But there are also other reasons why the iPhone does not yet have a Type-C port. Anyway, let’s talk about what will happen in the future.

Future of iPhones in India

iPhones in India should soon have Type-C ports. Not just iPhones, but all electronic products should follow the standard to include USB Type-C ports as charging ports. These ports would fit smartphones, laptops, tablets and more products. Note that this is what the EU (European Union) is already pushing for, and Apple will have no choice but to change the Lightning port there to a Type-C port for iPhones.

According to a report from ET Telecom, the change would be introduced in India after it is implemented in the EU. So we have quite some time before we see iPhones come with Type-C ports. Apple would not want to go against the EU and Indian markets. This would be a welcome change for many users around the world. Apple may also introduce faster charging technology due to the integration of Type-C port.

The consensus to include the Type-C port as standard was reached at an inter-ministerial task force meeting. Rohit Kumar Singh, Secretary, Consumer Affairs Department, chaired the meeting. A uniform charging port would protect the consumer because he/she does not have to worry about not finding a charger anywhere.
