ED SHEERAN has acquired a minority stake in Ipswich.
The pop superstar, a lifelong fan of the Tractor Boyshas bought a 1.4% stake in the recently promoted club.
Ipswich say Sheeran will be using a Portman Road executive suite in the long term.
But the singer will not join the club's board, as his investment is only “passive and a minority interest”.
Sheeran, 33, who has been Town's main shirt sponsor since 2021, has also designed the club's Suffolk-inspired third kit.
He said: “It is every football fan's dream to own the club they support and I am so grateful for this opportunity.
“I've lived in Suffolk since I was three and although I travel the world, Ipswich has always made me feel part of the community.
“It’s such a pleasure to be a fan. I’m not a voting shareholder or a board member, this is just me putting some money into the club I love, so please don’t bother me with suggestions or tactics.”
Ipswich chairman Mark Ashton added: “The support Ed and his team have given us over the last three years has been nothing short of remarkable.”
Ipswich begin their Prem campaign at home to Liverpool tomorrow.

And fans have been begging Sheeran for a deal closed for Kalvin Phillips in time for the early kick-off.
The Manchester City midfielder is set to join Portman Road on loan for a banner season.
He struggled during a short spell at West Ham last season.
But Ipswich could be the ideal place for Phillips to restore his reputation.
A fan said: “Beautiful, announce Phillips now.”
Another said: “Please get Phillips.”
One of them remarked, “Time for Kalvin.”
Another added: “We need Phillips now.”
