Jack Wilshere is ready for an official return to Arsenal like the north London club’s new under-18s head coach.

Earlier on Friday, the Gunners hero announced that he would retire from professional football at the age of 30.

Wilshere trained with the North London club and earned his coaching badges last year, before sealing a move to the Danish AGF.

But the former England international has now decided to hang up his shoes for good after a career full of injuries.

the athletic report that Arsenal will hire Wilshere to succeed former Under-18 boss Dan Micciche.

The club is also putting the finishing touches to Kevin Betsy’s replacement, who left his role as Under-23 manager to join Crawley Town, and U23 assistant Mehmet Ali will be promoted to head coach of the squad.

The move means Wilshere will return to the exact same academy he graduated from as a 16-year-old to make his senior debut in 2008.

The former midfielder was one of the most exciting prospects in English football, playing under the iconic Arsene Wenger at the time.

But a series of injuries prevented him from realizing his huge potential and left the club permanently to join West Ham in 2018.

Wilshere took to social media on Friday to announce his retirement:

“Today I announce that I am retiring from professional football,” he wrote. “It has been an incredible journey with so many incredible moments and I feel privileged to have been able to experience everything that I have experienced during my career.

“From the little boy kicking a ball in the garden to captaining my beloved Arsenal and playing for my country in a World Cup. I have lived my dream.

“Honestly, it was hard to accept that my career has slipped lately for reasons beyond my control, when I felt like I still had so much to give.”
