Jill Biden arrived in Spain for President Joe Biden for the NATO meeting and began her journey with a visit to Spain’s Queen Letizia.

And she didn’t just travel to Madrid.

“I brought my two granddaughters with me,” the first lady said to the queen as they sat down in the Palacio de la Zarzuela. “We stayed up and had a glass of wine.”

Finnegan Biden was already in Spain and met her grandmother. Maisy traveled to Spain with Jill Biden.

The girls were not with her at Monday’s events. Jill Biden told Letizia they were at the US embassy.

The two women hugged each other at the meeting and greeted each other warmly.

Jill Biden wore a red dress suit with gold buttons on her jacket. Letizia wore a black and white polka-dot dress.

She and Letizia also visited the Spanish Cancer Association. The first lady has been deeply involved in the fight against cancer since the Bidens’ son, Beau, died of brain cancer in 2015.

Both women wore face masks as they met investigators and toured the center.

Jill Biden arrived in Spain on Sunday night and will be in the country through Wednesday.

She defeated President Biden, who will not arrive until Tuesday afternoon. The president is at the G7 conference in Germany.

Jill Biden skipped that part of the trip, missing a walk the spouses – which included Carrie Johnson of the UK and Brigitte Macron of France – took around Lake Ferchensee.

On Tuesday, she and Queen Letizia will visit a Ukrainian refugee center.

They will then attend an official dinner that evening with their husbands, President Biden and King Felipe VI.
