writing on Twitter, Nile Gardiner denounced the government for treating the American people with “utter contempt”. The foreign policy analyst and contributor to the Daily Telegraph responded to comments from the White House chief of staff Karine Jean-Pierre at a press conference.
Mr. Gardiner wrote to his 23,000 followers, “The Biden administration treats the American people with utter contempt. Completely shameless.”
Despite high inflation and signs that the US economy could be heading into recession, Ms. Jean-Pierre was optimistic about the country’s economic position.
The Martinique-born press secretary claimed the US was “economically stronger” than at any time “in history”.
She said, “Because if you look at inflation if we look at where we are economically.
“We are economically stronger than we have been in our history.
“If you look at the unemployment rate of 3.6 percent.
“If you look at the job figures, more than 8.7 million new jobs will be created. That is important.”
Biden himself has painted too rosy a picture of the US economy.

“We have the fastest growing economy in the world.”
