President Biden is currently 79 and will turn 80 in November, which would make him nearly 82 in the next election.
His rating is currently at 33 percent as the American public resists high inflation and a wave of violent crime, The Times reported.
This low level has not been seen since 1946 when Harry Truman presided over a country also ravaged by strikes and high inflation.
More than three quarters of registered voters in the US believe the country is heading in the wrong direction, according to a Siena College poll for The New York Times.
The poll found that “a pervasive sense of pessimism extends to every corner of the country, every age group and racial group, cities, suburbs and rural areas, as well as both political parties”.
Donald Trump, who served as president from 2016-2020, has also announced possible plans to run again, despite being 78 by the time of the next election.
He wrote on his Truth Social social media page: “President Biden is one of the oldest 79ers in history, but he’s not an old man in and of himself.
“There are a lot of people in their 80s and even 90s who are as good and sharp as ever.

The reasons ranged from his age (33 percent), his job performance (32 percent), “prefer someone new” (12 percent) and “not progressive enough” (10 percent).
President Biden has been criticized for being too passive about gun crime in the wake of multiple horrific shootings.
After being harassed by a father who lost his son in the 2018 Parkland shooting, Florida, the president said, “Assault weapons should be banned. † † I won’t stop until we’ve done it.”
