Johnny Depp has reportedly reached a settlement in his sexual assault case brought to him by the former location manager of his movie City of Lies.

Depp has been accused of assaulting City of Lies crew member Gregg ‘Rocky’ Brooks while on set in 2017, the venue manager named him in a personal injury lawsuit.

However, in an application to a Superior Court in Los Angeles: obtained by DeadlineBrooks’ attorney Arbella Azizian said a settlement has been reached, although no terms have been made public.

The document read: “The Settlement Agreement conditions the dismissal of this case on the satisfactory completion of specified terms not to be performed within 45 days of the date of the settlement.”

It adds: “Dismissal after settlement is scheduled for 2/16/2023.”

Depp was charged with ‘maliciously and forcefully’ beating Brooks twice in the ribs while they were filming in April 2017, and was said to pay him $100,000 (£84,000) to ‘punch’. [him] in the face’.

However, Depp insists Brooks was “provoking” others on set, claiming his actions were in self-defense.

In the legal documents, Brooks claimed his actions were “deliberate and malicious” and were done “with the purpose of” humiliating him, alleging that the Hollywood star created a “hostile, abusive and unsafe” work environment because of his “intoxication and mood’ .

He also claimed he was eventually fired from the film after refusing to sign a waiver regarding his right to sue.

The reported settlement comes after Depp backtracked on Amber Heard’s appeal after winning his defamation case against her.

Last month, the 36-year-old Aquaman star was found by a unanimous seven-member jury in Fairfax, Virginia, for slandering her Pirates Of The Caribbean actor ex-husband in a Washington Post article in which she claimed to be a victim of domestic violence.

Although Depp, 59, is not mentioned in the article, his lawyers argued that the piece was defamatory against the actor and the court awarded him $15 million (£12 million) in compensatory and punitive damages.

Heard won one count from her counterpart of $100 million (£83 million) and was awarded $2 million (£1.6 million) in damages, meaning she paid the 59-year-old $8 million (£6.6 million) must pay.

Heard’s Lawyers requested a mistrial — but Depp’s lawyers have hit back.

Documents obtained by Deadline reads: “After a six-week jury trial, a jury of Ms. Heard’s colleagues ruled against her in virtually every way.

“While she was understandably dissatisfied with the outcome of the trial, Ms Heard has found no legitimate basis for overriding the jury’s decision in any way.

“Virginia law is clear that a verdict cannot be set aside unless it is ‘clearly false or without evidence to support it.'”

It continues: ‘Here the verdict was well supported by the overwhelming evidence, in accordance with the law, and should not be overruled.

“Mr. Depp respectfully states that the court should dismiss the motions after Ms. Heard’s trial, which appear to be frivolous.”
