Johnny Depp has brought in about £3 million in just hours by thrashing his artworks while his legal battle with Amber heard continues.

The 59-year-old actor painted a number of celebrities in his debut collection, including: Rolling Stone Keith Richardspeople legend Bob Dylan and Hollywood icon Elizabeth Taylor.

Fans of the Pirates of the Caribbean actor rushed to buy his art after announcing on Instagram that he was selling prints through the Castle Fine Art gallery in London‘s Covent Garden.

All 780 units sold within hours on Thursday, with framed individual images for £3,950 and the full portfolio of four images for £14,950.

Depp’s post on Instagram, subtitled only “NOW AT #CASTLEFINEART,” caused such a spike in traffic that the gallery’s website crashed.

He said: “I have always used art to express my feelings and reflect on those who are most important to me, such as my family, friends and people I admire.

‘My paintings surround my life, but I kept them to myself and limited myself. No one should ever limit themselves.’

Meanwhile, Glyn Washington, on behalf of fine art publishing house Washington Green, described Depp as a “true creative, with an extraordinary eye for detail and nuance.”

The sale comes after the conclusion of Depp’s high-profile lawsuit against his… ex-wife Amber Heard.

A jury found a 2018 article Heard wrote for the Washington Post about her experiences as a victim of domestic violence defamatory and awarded Depp $10.35 million (£8.2 million) in damages.

Heard won on one count of her counter-charge, successfully arguing that Depp’s press agent defamed her by claiming her allegations were “an abuse hoax” aimed at capitalizing on the #MeToo movement.

The jury awarded her $2 million (£1.5 million) in damages, which Johnny has filed an appeal.

Heard’s legal team has also filed documents with: the Fairfax County court on Thursday to appeal the verdict.

“We believe the court made mistakes that prevented a just and fair judgment in accordance with the First Amendment,” Heard’s spokesperson told Metro.co.uk.

As the deliberations took place, Depp appeared on stage with: veternal rock guitarist Jeff Beck78, during his tour of the UK.

The pair also recently released a joint album entitled 18, which broke into the top 40 in the UK.
