Julia Roberts has worn yet another ridiculous outfit inspired by George Clooney

Julia Roberts has returned to her role as the reigning queen of romantic comedy after a string of more serious roles, and she couldn’t make it more clear that she is done being serious.

Roberts has been promoting her rom-com movie Ticket to Paradise alongside co-star in recent months George Clooneycementing themselves as the All Stars of rom-com leads.

The pair have had fun with their promotion of the movie to say the least. In an interview, Roberts and Clooney flirted so openly that they were described as “more for rom-coms and romantic chemistry in this single Vanity Fair interview than any rom-com in the past decade”.

For another of their press tours, an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, the duo showed up in coordinated suits, laughing and smiling arm-in-arm for papparazzi photos.

Roberts’ suit in particular was nice – a selection by her stylist Elizabeth Stewart from the Gucci x Adidas Fall 2022 collab. Clooney’s suit was his symbolic Nespresso advertising classic, but looked extra fresh when paired with Roberts’ on-trend tailoring.

But last night was Roberts’ piece de resistance. For the 45th annual Kennedy Center Honors, the actress wore an understated, chic black Moschino dress… with dozens of images of George Clooney’s face framed and printed all over the fabric.

To be fair, she wore it in Clooney’s honor, as his life and work were celebrated in the Kennedy Center Honors, making her outfit as supportive as it was silly.

Stewart, Roberts’ stylist, posted a photo of the dress from the back on Instagram to showcase all of the Clooney photos, thanked Moschino’s creative director Jeremy Scott for bringing the concept to life, and hashtagged the image “#juliaframedgeorge.”

This isn’t Roberts’ only hyper-personalized outfit choice — she wore an Alexander McQueen dress to the Ticket to Paradise premiere, which was customized to show her kids’ initials and birth dates, as well as her and her husband’s wedding anniversary, in a tribute to her loved ones.

It looks like Roberts really threw out the red carpet rule book and is now just doing whatever she wants. And there’s only one downside: So far, there’s no video of George Clooney’s reaction to the dress.
