Julianne Moore Named Jury Chair of the Venice Film Festival 2022 – The Hollywood Reporter

Julianne Moore is set to lead the 2022 Venice International Film festival jury.

The Oscar-winning actress was unveiled Friday as jury chair of the festival’s 79th edition, alongside an international roster of fellow judges, including Argentine director, writer and producer Mariano Cohn, whose latest film Official Competition starring Penelope Cruz and Antonio Banderas, which premiered in Venice last year, Italian filmmaker and 2013 David di Donatello debut winner Leonardo Di Costanzo, French director Audrey Diwan, whose 2021 film happens won the Golden Lion in Venice in 2021, Iranian actress and A separation star Leila Hatami, Remains of the day and never leave me novelist Kazuo Ishiguro and Spanish filmmaker Rodrigo Sorogoyen, whose film The candidate won seven Goyas awards in 2019.

Venice Artistic Director Alberto Barbera made the announcement.

Moore, who became the first American woman to win the best acting awards in Berlin (for Doors in 2002), Venice (far from heaven2002) and Cannes (Cards to the stars2014), succeeds Bong Joon-ho, who was the jury president of Venice in 2021.

The jury will award the following official prizes to the feature films in competition: Golden Lion for Best Picture, Silver Lion – Grand Jury Prize, Silver Lion for Best Director, Coppa Volpi for Best Actress, Coppa Volpi for Best Actor, Special Jury Prize, Award for Best screenplay, Marcello Mastroianni Award for Best New Young Actor or Actress.

The 79th edition of the Italian celebration will take place from August 31 to September. 10.
