Liverpool striker Diogo Jota has suffered a recurrence of a hamstring injury in preseason training, while goalkeeper also struggles with fitness, manager confirms Jurgen Klopp†
Jota did not play in the friendly against Manchester United on Tuesday due to an injury from last season, and when he returned to training on Wednesday, he had another problem.
Klopp isn’t sure how long the attacker will be out but it sounds worrying for the 25-year-old.
“So Diogo is out of luck,” Klopp said at a press conference in Singapore. ‘Diogo was not involved’ [against United] due to an injury he sustained at the end of his season.
“He trained fully yesterday and got injured again, so that’s really not cool but we’ll have to wait and see the results. He’s had further tests this morning, so we’ll have to see.”
When asked if his hamstring is the problem, Klopp added: “We’ll see. Same region, yes.’
Alisson is also not completely fit, although Klopp was not particularly clear about the problem the Brazilian is facing.
“Ali wasn’t 100 percent, he finished the session earlier, did the warm-up and felt something, so now we have to wait there too,” said the German.
“I think pretty much everyone else is fine, so that’s it.”
The Reds are back in friendly against Crystal Palace in Singapore on Friday, with further friendlies against RB Leipzig, Salzburg and Strasbourg ahead of the start of the Premier League season.
