Justice Minister Kiri Allan discussed ‘very brand’ airport proposal to radio host Māni Dunlop

Justice Minister Kiri Allan and RNZ presenter Māni Dunlop are getting married after an airport proposal.

In social media posts, Dunlop joked about a “very curious proposal” while a boarding call was taking place.

On Instagram, Dunlop laughed at the proposal, saying “who said romance is dead,” not getting a photo due to the boarding conversation.

“I wouldn’t have it any other way – love you, love our girls – our whānau and our hectic but happy lives,” Dunlop said in the post.

Allan exclaimed on her own social media, “She said yes.”

The justice minister is in her second term in parliament after being voted first on the Labor list in the 2017 elections. She became the electorate Member of Parliament for East Coast in the 2020 elections.

In June she was promoted to Minister of Justice. This came after stints as Minister for Nature Conservation, and also Emergency Management. She held the Emergency Management portfolio when the tsunami waves hit the North Island in March 2021.

She was hailed as a “bit of a superwoman” for treating that emergency the same day she was diagnosed with cervical cancer.
