Kate Middleton Releases Photos of Armed Forces Day Similar to Princess Diana’s in 1988 | Royal | News

Several photos showing the Duchess of Cambridge wearing army camouflage and military gear were uploaded to social media over the weekend to mark Armed Forces Day. While the photos came as Kate Middleton thanked military personnel in the UK, they were also considered to be similar to those of Princess Diana in the late 1980s.

Diana, the late Princess of Wales, was caught in a similar uniform while visiting the Royal Hampshire Regiment in Tidworth in 1988.

Kate’s visit took place nearly 60 miles from Tidworth at Pirbright’s Army Training Center.

In addition to her social media post, the Duchess said: “Today on Armed Forces Day, William and I would like to pay tribute to the brave men and women, past and present, who served in all our armed forces, at sea, on land and in the air, here in the UK and around the world.”

She added: “Thank you for everything you and your families sacrifice to keep us safe.

“Last year I had the honor of spending time with the British Army to see how they train service personnel and new recruits.

“It has been wonderful to see first hand the many important and varied roles the military plays day in and day out to protect us all and I look forward to learning more about the Royal Navy and Royal Air Force in due course. “

Despite a striking comparison to Princess Diana, some social media users thought the Duchess couldn’t pull it off quite as well as her husband’s late mother.

One user, working under the Twitter handle @InftDev, said, “Nice pose, but no one can imitate Diana, not today, not tomorrow.”
