Keke Palmer’s career compared to Zendaya’s creates Colorism Convo, #Keke #Palmers #Career #Compared #Zendayas #Colorism #Convo #Ensues Welcome to OLASMEDIA TV NEWSThis is what we have for you today:
Keke Palmer gets the side-by-side treatment with Zendaya on Twitter after her starring role in Jordan Peele‘s new film – sparking a conversation about colorism in Hollywood.
Here’s the deal… Keke made a splash in “No” opposite this weekend Daniel Kaluuya, with some arguing that this is her breakthrough moment into the mainstream. Yes, she has worked in MANY movies/shows for years – but before that she was generally not very well known… JP’s film has basically put her on the map like she’s never been before.
That’s where Zendaya enters the chat (metaphorically)… someone on the bird app said that Keke deserves the same hype and admiration that Zendaya typically enjoys these days. And from there… people started talking about why one might have ascended earlier than the other.
Before we write this off as playing two women of color against each other, let’s take a look at the topic and content of the argument… because, frankly, it’s an interesting one.
I would like someone to do an in-depth look at the similarities and differences between Keke Palmer and Zendaya’s careers. This is perhaps one of the clearest examples of how colorism plays out in Hollywood. They were both child stars, but their overall popularity is very different. https://t.co/Cmy1CXGQeI pic.twitter.com/etO27HVN0Y

In the end, someone said they believed the colorism was the reason Zendaya has had more mainstream success than Keke has at this point in their career – although they are about the same age, they both have Disney backgrounds… and despite that one has significantly more acting credits than the other (Keke>Zen), Zendaya is the name and face we’ll know more about in 2022.
Of course, there’s been a reaction to this being discussed at all… with Zendaya fans coming to defend her in what they say is a personal attack on their idol, but others say they’re completely missing the point – and this isn’t going to happen necessarily about Zendaya.
the comments and quotes are exactly why the colorism in Hollywood conversations will always be superficial. people find acknowledging colorism worse and more divisive than colorism itself. we will never be able to have a real dialogue about it and that is why it will continue. https://t.co/WjHmVMxgTU

You can in the “Keke” or “Zendayatrends and see for yourself how this discussion takes shape – but long story short, there seems to be a good majority who feel that through no fault of her own, Zendaya has benefited immensely from her mixed heritage.
We should say… Zendaya herself has acknowledged this On multiple occasionssays she wants to help her community, the black community, get to the same level in showbiz.
There are no easy answers here – and we are sure this debate will continue. As for Keke, we’ll say this… she has indeed killed it forever, but “No” is really something else. Star making roles come about every now and then, and this is definitely one of them.
We’re sure we’ll be seeing a lot more from Keke soon.
