Kevin Spacey pleads not guilty to sexual assault charges

Spacey was the artistic director of The Old Vic Theater in London at the time.

Mr Justice Wall has set a three to four week trial from June 6 next year.

The senior judge said the case would be transferred to the Old Bailey unless the date could be accommodated at Southwark Crown Court.

Another hearing will be held earlier in 2023.

The judge granted Spacey unconditional bail.

Spacey thanked the judge at the end of the 15-minute hearing.

The House of Cards star has an address in Waterloo, South London, and in the US, where he has family and a nine-year-old dog.

Spacey firmly denies all crime

Last month, during a preliminary hearing at the Westminster Magistrates’ Court, Spacey’s attorney, Patrick Gibbs QC, told his client “strongly denies any crime in this case

Gibbs said Spacey returned to the UK “to establish his innocence” and “to get on with his life”.

The charges include two assaults on a man, now in his forties, in March 2005 in London; assaulting a man, now in his thirties, inducing him to engage in invasive sexual activity without consent, in London in August 2008; and assault of a man, now in his thirties, in April 2013 in Gloucestershire.

The Crown Prosecution Service cleared the charges against Spacey in May, but he could not be formally charged until after he traveled to the UK last month.

A two-time Academy Award winner, Spacey is known for starring in American Beauty and The Usual Suspects.

From 2004 to 2015, he was Artistic Director at The Old Vic.
