Kidnapped Catholic Edo Priests Regain Freedom

Two Catholic priests, Rev. Fr. Udo Peter and Rev. Fr. Philemon Oboh, who was kidnapped in the state of Edo, has been released.

The priests were rescued unharmed by security officers hours after Edo state deputy governor Comrade Philip Shaibu ordered the security chiefs to rescue them.

It is remembered that Rev. Fr. Peter of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Uromi and Rev. fr. Oboh from St. Joseph Retreat Center, Ugboha in Esan South-East, was abducted on Saturday, July 2, along the Benin-Auchi Expressway, between Ehor and Iruekpen.

Meanwhile, against the background of the increase in kidnappings in the state, after a series of meetings with security stakeholders, Comrade Shuaibu explained the government’s decision to review its security architecture.
