King Charles and the Queen Consort send first 100th birthday cards

Charles became king at the death of his motherQueen Elizabeth II, on September 8, and Mrs. Park-Pearson is among those who received birthday greetings from the new monarch this weekend.

“I was like ‘my god me,'” she said.

“It’s beautiful because it has a nice gold cord through it with a tassel at the end.

“It’s a really nice card. I’ll keep it very prominent for everyone to see.”

Glasgow-born Mrs Park-Pearson, who plans to display the map on her wardrobe, served in the Women’s Royal Naval Service (Wrens) during World War II when Charles’ grandfather, King George VI, sat on the throne.

Queen Elizabeth reigned from 1952 until her death in Septemberafter marking its platinum anniversary.

During her 70-year reignapproximately 1.3 million cards were sent to mark birthdays and anniversaries in the UK, the Rich and Overseas Territories.

Ms. Park-Pearson said, “I served under her father if you think about it.

“I have served under him and the Queen and now… it’s going to be king charlesthree monarchs shall we say, in my lifetime.

“You don’t think about it at that moment, it’s only later that you realize how old you are suddenly. You think my god, I remember the old king.

“The Queen Mother was a very elegant lady.”
