The King follows a familiar footprint as he fights to record Prince Harry And Meghan, the Duchess of Sussex at family events, a royal commentator has said. His Majesty added the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to the guest list Coronation, but the couple has yet to confirm whether they will attend. Author Gareth Russell said the invitation shouldn’t come as a surprise as the king has a “track record” of trying to broker deals between feuding factions of the Royal family.
Speaking to US Weekly, Russell said: “This has actually been a recurring theme in his life. I found that in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when Charles was quite young, he was one of the few members of the Royal family who was willing to go to Paris to visit his great-uncle, Edward VIII and Wallis Simpson.
“He said to the Queen Mother and to the Queen, ‘I think we should try to build bridges between this side of the family.’
“He thought his great-uncle and aunt should be brought back into the fold a little bit.
“So there’s a history of Charles doing things like this and in that sense it’s consistent with what we know of him as a person.”

Speaking to the Royally US podcast he added: “I also think you catch more with honey than vinegar. If one side, rightly or wrongly, is seen as the side that complains and has had a real run of publicity , of interviews saying the same thing, then it’s a very sensible PR move if you don’t say anything.
“Or if you say something, to say something positive, so I think it’s a mix of personal and pragmatism that drove him to do that.”
A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex said this earlier this month couple would not confirm yet or they will return to the UK to attend the coronation.
It has since emerged that Harry and Meghan have made a series of demands for the palace to meet before guaranteeing they will attend.
One of the alleged requests is that they do that appear on the balcony alongside the rest of the royal family from Buckingham Palace after the ceremony.
But the King has been tipped to follow in the late Queen’s footsteps and limit the traditional outing to just his immediate heir, prince williamand his family.
During Her Majesty’s last appearance at the palace, she had only the then Prince Charles with his wife Camilla, the then Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, and their three children.
