PRISONERS prepare “super-strong” hooch for the World Cup in Qatar, even though it doesn’t start until November.
Major sporting events always see a wave of illegal practices prisons.
But with both England and Wales in action, brews are fermented for months to increase the alcohol content.
Lags make the drinks with freely available fruits, sugar and bread.
One ex-con said: “Normally hooch is just thrown together pretty quickly in 10-30 days, but the World Cup calls for some extra strong stuff.
“If England and Wales do well, it will be a little earlier for anyone willing to risk making and hiding jokes for the next four to five months.”
He added: “By the time I left in June, shelters were scarce.”
“Guards usually find about half of the hooch made, and the guys just hope they don’t bring in a hooch dog to sniff it out.”
Jail Chiefs said they are spending £100m on more security.
