Traffic was disrupted after a two-vehicle collision on the M25 clockwise between Junction 3 M20 (Junction Swanley) and Junction 2 A2 (Junction Darenth).
The congestion on the highway continues until the Dartford Tunnel.
Traffic on runway four of the four lanes was stopped before the accident.
It came after a three-car collision that also caused significant delays to traffic on the M25 on the ramp to the anti-clockwise lane at junction 13 at Staines.
One lane in the driveway was closed for about two hours while emergency services cleared the incident.
There are no reports of any casualties at the time of writing.
