Olic have arrested a man on suspicion of murder after the fatal stabbing of nine-year-old Lillia Valutyte.
Lincolnshire Police released four CCTV images of a man they wanted to speak to on Saturday and warned anyone who sees him not to approach him but to call 999 immediately.
In an update on Saturday afternoon, police said a 22-year-old man had been arrested in the Boston Central Park area at about 2:45 p.m.
A statement read: “The arrest follows a combination of intelligence and information provided by various members of the public. We would like to thank everyone for their help as we continue our research.
“We are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident. There will be a significant police presence in the city as our investigation progresses.
“We still encourage anyone with information to contact us. This can be done via the Major Incidents Portal.
“Police added that two people arrested earlier this week have now been released without further action.”
Lillia was found on Fountain Lane in Boston Thursday around 6:20 pm.
Anyone with information should call 101 citing Incident 419 of July 28.
She had reportedly been playing with her younger sister on the street, just yards from an office where their mother was working at the time.
The girls had a hula hoop and, according to locals, a toy pram had been left behind.
A local resident told the Telegraph: “The little girl was playing with her younger sister in the street when it happened. They had some toys out.
‘I’m sure her mother wouldn’t have been far away, because she was always checking on them. She was a very quiet girl, and I just can’t understand.
“I didn’t see what happened, but we were told that they (police) were looking for footage of a man running away.”
