Lilly Allen announced that she is taking a break social media with an emotional message to her followers.
The 37-year-old singer and actress will star in West End show The Pillowman later this year.
Lily shared that she’ll be taking time off social media on Saturday night with a post on Instagram, writing, “I’m going dark for a while.
‘I’ve been finding it increasingly difficult to concentrate lately because of the phone.
“There are some really great things coming up in terms of work and I really want to deliver on these commitments and all the people involved.
That means you’re done.
“My team can post bits and pieces, but goodnight from me. X [sic]’
Fans were quick to send the star well wishes with one writing, “Take care of you first. You can’t pour from an empty cup,” and another token: “A break from socials is a positive thing. Do your thing [sic]’.
The star – who lives in Brooklyn, New York, with her husband, Stranger Things star David harbour — will also star in the upcoming ones black comedy Dreamland.
In the six-part series, which airs on Sky Comedy and streaming service Now, Allen attends a baby shower for her eldest sister, played by ex-Doctor Who actress Freema Agyeman, in the British seaside town of Margate.
Based on the 2018 Bafta-winning short film of the same name, written by Sharon Horgan, is a comedy drama about secrets, lies, loves and ambitions within a family of four sisters.
Last year, Lily made her stage debut in the Olivier-nominated London West End thriller 2:22 A Ghost Story, alongside Encanto’s Stephanie Beatriz and Inbetweeners actor James Buckley.
For the role, she was awarded Best Female Identifying Role in a Play at the Whatsonstage awards and nominated for an Olivier Award for Best Actress.
In November 2022, it was announced that she will return to the stage in a revival of the Olivier award-winning play The Pillowman.
The show, which opens June 10 at the Duke of York’s Theatre, stars Lily as the main character Katurian, an author who is being arrested over suspicion for his gruesome short stories.
The hitmaker will be the first woman to play the role.
