London: Knifeman stabs man in the back in crowded pub

A knifeman followed a man in a crowded pub and stabbed him repeatedly in the back as onlookers watched in horror.

Manhunt launched after attack on Fatling Hornchurch pub in Havering, east LondonSaturday shortly after midnight.

Police have released an image of a man they are seeking to identify following the incident.

Video footage shows a man having a conversation with a small group of people before the 23-year-old victim was later stabbed multiple times.

After treatment at the scene, the victim was taken to hospital with ‘a number of stab wounds’.

His condition is serious but stable in hospital. His family has been informed of the incident.

Detective Sergeant Joe Seals, of the local police force of the Metropolitan Police in Havering, said: “We have carried out a number of urgent investigations to trace the person responsible and we are now in a position to release an image of a man we need. to identify.

“I would encourage anyone who recognizes this man, or witnesses who have not yet spoken to police, to contact us immediately.”

In a Facebook post on Saturday, Fatling Hornchurch said: ‘Unfortunately we had an incident here at the Fatling outside the pub last night.

“Thanks to the prompt action of the staff and our medically trained door team, the incident was dealt with quickly and we are pleased to say that the victim is healthy and recovering.”
