ride Month starts on June 1 each year, with London’s annual Pride Parade kicking off in early July.

Every June, London is filled with parades, parties and protests for London Pride, marking the anniversary of the Stonewall riots in 1969.

This year, London’s Pride Parade kicks off on July 2, as people follow the original path of the inaugural 1972 Pride March.

However, this year’s celebrations are expected to be particularly epic, with Pride London celebrating its 50th anniversary, as well as reopening the event after two years of Covid-induced cancellations and live streams.

What is Pride in London?

Pride in London celebrates the LGBT+ community of lesbians, gays, bisexuals and transgender people with a program of events highlighting LGBT+ culture, including theatre, dance, art, cinema, parties and activities across the city.

Each year it is marked with a parade through the city, usually culminating in a colorful Pride in London parade, which takes place in central London alongside free performances in Trafalgar Square and the West End.

Join the celebration to see more than 300 floats travel through London, as well as groups performing, singing and dancing in the streets of London.

In the evenings, Soho takes over with parties and events, all taking place in the pubs, bars and clubs across the city.

This year’s London Pride will take place on Saturday, July 2, in a march that aims to both ‘make a strong statement’ and make changes ‘towards progress’.

The parade will also follow the original path of the inaugural 1972 parade.

It will call on the UK government to ban conversion therapy, reform gender recognition, and give LGBT+ communities equal protection against hate crime, end the hostile environment towards migrants, establish a National AIDS Memorial and play a leading role play in tackling

What is the theme of London Pride 2022?

The theme for London Pride 2022 is #AllOurPride – a nod to the fact that this year’s Pride will “unite the past, present and future of pride, from every corner of the LGBT community”.

The organizers of this year’s pride march have said they want to use it to “march for progress”.

It also commemorates the last 50 years of Pride, with the event’s website stating that this year’s campaign will: “commemorate the past 50 years and our evolution as a movement; recognition of the torchbearers who have gone before us and their achievements.”

“As we celebrate and look forward to the next 50 years, we will recognize the challenges our community continues to face nationally and globally.”

The organizers also call on the UK government to ban conversion therapy for all LGBT+ people, reform gender recognition law and give LGBT+ communities equal protection against hate crime, erect a national AIDS memorial, and more.

In addition to the parade, there are also plenty of events to get involved in during Pride Month in June, as well as fringe events and parties that will continue throughout the summer.

Who’s in the lineup for London Pride 2022?

No regrets: singer Emeli Sandé

Singers Emeli Sandé, Ava Max and Eurovision winner Netta are among the stars who will perform at Pride in London in 2022, the organization has announced.

Entertaining parade goers on July 2 include RuPaul’s Drag Race UK winners, The Vivienne and Lawrence Chaney, and fan favorites, Tia Kofi and Victoria Scone.

Other names that will also be performing are Irish pop singer Samantha Mumba and Long Hot Summer singer Kat Graham, who will be appearing on the Trafalgar Square stage.

Meanwhile, the event’s stage in Leicester Square will be dedicated to showcasing women, non-binary and trans entertainers and performers, the organization said.

What is the London Pride 2022 route?

The parade begins at Hyde Park Corner, the terminus of the very first march, before making its way to Piccadilly, then south to Haymarket and Trafalgar Square, before finishing at Whitehall Place.

What are the times of events in this year’s London Pride 2022?

This year’s London Pride 2022 kicks off at 12 noon in Hyde Park Corner and the grandstand in Haymarket opens from approximately 11 a.m.
