On the hunt for a dreamy dinner in the heart of London? you have to go to Jeroen.

Nestled in the heart of Mayfair’s spark plug area, this is a restaurant that offers a slice of Middle Eastern inspired fine dining that feels miles away from the hustle and bustle of the city outside the marble walls.

Walk through the front door and you’re greeted by the beautiful open-plan kitchen and dining room, overlooking seafood, beef and lamb being dry-aged and the flow of tahini being squeezed.

Downstairs is the Layla bar, where you can find the most elegant cocktails with a Middle Eastern twist – try the Smokin Peaches if you’re a mezcal fan, or the Rita’s Sour if you like something a little sweeter.

Also down here is the dining room on a lower level, which feels like a real London escape. Sumptuous banquet seating is punctuated by built-in wine coolers, a stylish wine room and what I believe are London’s next must-visit bathrooms, complete with arched doors to each cubicle, a plush velvet sofa and a soothing water fountain trickling in. the background as you smear your hands in lotion.

Go back to your table though, because the real fun can begin.

If you go to Jeru for lunch, you can opt for the ? special two-course menu for £42 per personbut dinner is all about the à la carte.

You might be tempted to try the chocolate-aged wagyu tomahawk and Arabic cheese murtabak for yourself, but we highly recommend going with your friends for a more mezze approach.

The dishes are pricey, so sharing a few with a group makes it a more affordable dining experience – and you can get a few bites from the many must-try dishes.

Be sure to order the famous halloumi donuts, – the ultimate in indulgent comfort food – the fermented wood fire bread (braise in the koji butter and truffle honey, both are heavenly), the charcoal octopus and the white bean hummus – maybe don’t think hummus, clams and cod roe work together, but believe us, they do it very well.

When it comes to meat and fish, all options are winners here. The tuna ceviche is ideal for a summer day – so refreshing and spicy. Scallops get an upgrade with tahini, while the pan-fried bream is the chicest version of fish and chips with tartar sauce.

Don’t skip the sides while you’re at it. The crispy potato au gratin is, as you’d expect, the best kind of carb hit, while the baby gem is infused with the tastiest dressing and a healthy grated cheese on top.

For dessert, if you’re not too full, opt for the coconut, hazelnut and bounty if you like that light, sweet vibe, the signature pistachio and raspberry tart, or a simple selection of lemon, berries and Turkish delight.

You come out of Jeru in a delightful daze, stunned that you are actually still in the UK.
