Love Island 2023: What happened in episode four?

A full week is yet to pass and already the latest series of Love Island is serving more pie than a children’s birthday party – albeit with less cream, and rather more sass.

Indeed, while new bombshell Zara Deniz Lackenby Brown describes herself as a budding artist, fellow Islander Tanya Manhenga has revealed her own hitherto unknown creative streak by drawing a very impressive love triangle. 

The scouse student has already pied overzealous airport worker Shaq Muhammad on two separate occasions and already has her sights set on a potential recoupling – with Essex boy Ron Hall and new bombshell David Salako potential targets. 

But as the Islanders weigh up their options, what next in the Cape Town villa? Pull up a deckchair, MailOnline is here to answer your every question. 

SHE’S JUST NOT INTO YOU

Love Island viewers were left unimpressed with David Salako‘s very forward approach to flirting on Thursday’s episode.

The bombshell, 24, entered the villa during Wednesday’s episode alongsid8e fellow newcomer Zara Lackenby-Brown and set his sights on Tanyel Revan when he entered the villa.

Within minutes of entering the house, David grabbed her for a chat and quickly began quizzing her on whether she was willing to get to know him.

However, his forthright manner put off some viewers while Tanyel herself dodged the question and said she was ‘willing to get to know everyone’.

One Twitter user wrote: ‘Tanyel is not interested whatsoever,’ while another added: ‘David is too forward and that would instantly give me the ick’. 

A third viewer said: ‘Already hate David and he’s only had 30 seconds of screen time,’ while a fourth wrote: ‘Tanyel is not interested in David at all’. 

Another added: ‘She’s not feeling him, avoiding questions like crazy,’ while another wrote: ‘Tanyel lowkey wants David to go away’. 

MAKE IT HAPPEN!

Love Island fans are hoping castmates Ron and Tanya become a couple. 

During Thursday’s episode, fans flocked to Twitter to say how much they pair would be great together, after they had a short conversation in the villa at the start of the episode. 

‘Ron and Tanya??? Why do they look good together?’ one person tweeted with a GIF of Adele pulling a thinking face. 

‘I’m rooting for Tanya and Ron to find love. I understand why they were chosen for the dates they are the hottest,’ another tweeted. 

‘Producers pls make Tanya and Ron a thing,’ another added underneath a GIF of Louis Tomlinson with fake nails. 

‘Why do Tanya and Ron look good together,’ another added.

However, in earlier episodes this week, Ron paired up with Lana while Tanya paired up with Shaq in the villa.  

THE PRICE IS NOT QUITE RIGHT

Love Island fans were not impressed on Thursday night as they mocked the islanders for leaving stickers on their shoes.

As is custom practice when watching the ITV show, viewers take to Twitter to share their observations and quips regarding the live episode.

And no different was Thursday night as viewers made a very specific reflection – the Love Islanders had stickers on the bottom of the shoes.

One Love Island fan wrote: Lana, are you going to be returning those heels when you get home?! You’ve left the stickers on them, hope you held onto the receipt!’

Another added: ‘Really hurting my soul that the girls have stickers under their heels’

The observation quickly became a hot topic as more and more fans clocked on to the embarrassing error. 

One fan even tagged new host Maya Jama, begging her to get involved. 

They wrote: ‘@MayaJama pls pls can you have a word and tell the girls to take the stickers off their heels. It’s triggering my ocd xx’

IT’S BEEN FIVE MINUTES!

Love Island fans couldn’t contain their frustration as Ron Hall kept calling his thing with Lana Jenkins ‘a test’ repeatedly on Thursday after being together for four days. 

The financial advisor and amateur boxer, 25, enjoyed a romantic date on Wednesday with model Zara Lackenby-Brown and revealed afterwards his ‘head has turned’. 

However, in the latest episode he was seen reassuring makeup artist Lana that he still has eyes for her but is being ‘tested’ with Zara being there as he gets to know both.

Viewers were left less than unimpressed as they rushed to Twitter to remind him that ‘it’s only been 4 days’ since the pair met. 

One wrote: ‘What test is Ron talking about? It’s literally been 4 days,’ while another commented: ‘It can’t be a test already as it’s only been 3 days Ron’.

‘Why is Ron saying it’s a test for him! They’ve been in a couple for 5 mins’, a third said.

‘Big test for Ron … after two days ffs,’ a fourth added. 

Ron pulled Lana for a chat where he told her that she is ‘very different’ to Zara and he’s looking for who ‘ticks the most boxes’ for him. 

He said: ‘My head is where it was at before but another girl has been thrown into the mix. If another fella came in here I’d expect you to get to know him too. 

‘She’s got energy and she is very different to you, you’re not the same type. For me it’s almost like you both tick boxes and its who is what I want more.

‘In a way its a test for us to see if she turns my head. If I could have picked I wish I could have taken you out on a date.’ 

The amateur boxer later told the boys: ‘My heads all over the graft but I’m going to get to know them both just in case’. 

Ron was previously smitten with blonde makeup artist Lana before the late comers made a lasting impression and are set to ruffle some feathers. 

On the date, Ron mentioned to Zara how he’s close to Lana, saying: ‘Yep, I’m coupled up with Lana, she’s sweet and cute.’

But he added: ‘You’re making it hard for me, I have some thinking to do!’ 

He later told the guys in the villa that Zara is ‘ just ticking boxes, everything I want to hear’. 

WHO’S THAT GIRL?

Love Island viewers admitted they had ‘forgot’ contestant Anna-May Robey was in the villa during Thursday’s episode.

The Swansea native, 20, featured prominently during the first part of the episode as she flirted with Kai Fagan after admitting there isn’t much chemistry between her and Haris Namani.

However, many fans thought it was the first time they had heard Anna-May speak at all since she entered the villa.

One viewer wrote: ‘Honestly I forgot Anna-May was in the villa,’ while another said: ‘Anna-May side character vibes’.

A third viewer wrote: ‘I actually forgot Anna-May was in the villa, literally seen zero of her.’

A fourth added: ‘Wait… who is this girl? Probs the first time I’ve seen Anna-May’. 

Another harshly added: ‘I had high hopes for Anna-May. I don’t think she’s going to live up to them’. 

Anna-May told Kai that he was the only guy in the villa she was ‘vibing’ with before they had a hilarious chat about serial killer documentaries.

Later during a game of beer pong, Anna-May planted a smooch on Kai after being tasked with kissing the guy who she fancied the most. 

RUN, KAI, RUN!

Love Island fans have called out Tanyel for expressing her anger at Kai chatting to Anna-May on Thursday.

Despite only being coupled up with Kai for three days, the hairstylist, 26, made it very clear that she didn’t like the 24-year-old PE teacher’s attention being elsewhere, telling him that she felt it was ‘disrespectful’ he spoke with Anna-May, 20.

Watching the scenes at home, viewers branded her ‘possessive’ and a ‘bunny boiler’, while saying Kai ‘needs to run’, with many remarking that it was worrying she was getting so offended over a chat after such a short period. 

After earlier spying him getting to know Anna-May, Tanyel pulled Kai for a chat in which he asked: ‘What are you feeling about today?’ 

Tanyel replied: ‘You didn’t do anything wrong, but I actually got really jealous and I don’t like it.’

Kai shot back: ‘The fact that you’ve told me that you were jealous is the first intel that I’ve actually got that you actually like me.’

Tanyel then added: ‘I know and this is what I wanted to talk to you about, it really annoyed me that you spoke to someone else, that obviously shows me that I like you…’ 

She then went on to tell him that she was ‘really f**king annoyed’ at him speaking with the Payroll assistant, telling him: ‘I wanted to get something and chuck it at your head’.

The beauty added that she was used to guys only chasing her and said that she found it ‘disrespectful’ and felt ‘sick’ to see his attentions turned to another islander.

Taking to Twitter amid the scenes, one viewer shared: ‘It’s a bit dramatic that Tanyel is getting offended when he’s literally just had a CHAT with another girl.’

While another remarked: ‘Tanyel… it’s giving bunny boiler.’ 

‘Tanyel is giving possessive vibes’, commented a third person, while a fourth added: ‘Tanyel was just full bunny boiler, somethings are best unsaid.’ 

A fifth wrote: ‘I don’t understand why tanyel is so mad ab kai talking to anna may like is he not allowed to get to know anyone??? you’ve known him 4 days.’

‘Now why would Tanyel say all that on Day 3?? That is terrifying that she would be so jealous to the point she would throw something wtf? Kai needs to run’ tweeted a sixth.

With another adding: ‘i actually couldn’t be kai rn cause tanyel’s behaviour is striking fear into my heart.’

OUR FIRST FEUD! 

Things heated up on Love Island as the Islanders played a wild game of beer pong in the South African villa. 

Bombshell Zara Lackenby-Brown was dared to kiss both the cheeks of the Islander she thinks is the most two-faced. 

Tensions began to rise as she approached a less than impressed Olivia Hawkins causing the boys watching on to burst into screams and laughter.

Ring girl Olivia was left visibly fuming before taking to the beach hut to say the model completely ‘humiliated’ her in front of everyone. 

She said: ‘I feel like she’s using me in her game. I feel like she wanted to humiliate me.’

Continuing with the jaw dropping game, the drama continued as Olivia was told to ‘reveal a secret to the other Islanders’. 

She hit back at the new bombshell and said: ‘Oh I’ve got a good one, I’m actually not two-faced I’m very straight up.’

Following the game, the ring girl walked off to speak to the other girls on the terrace as she tried to calm down. 

‘I’m defiantly not the one being bitchy. I don’t want to say anything to her right now. I don’t want to make a thing of it,’ Olivia said. 

Fans were quick to rush to Twitter to applaud Zara for bringing the drama to the series and ruffling some feathers. 

One wrote: ‘So we have Olivia vs Zara & Shaq vs Haris after one game of beer pong… sounds like an interesting house party to me’. 

Another said: ‘Shaq vs David and Zara vs Olivia. This season has officially started’.

‘Olivia is rattled by Zara and I love it,’ penned a third. 

‘What’s Olivia even mad for. Zara owe her no loyalty whatsoever wth,’ added another. 

‘Olivia vs Zara… I’m honestly into it, bring the fire we need!’ gushed a fifth. 

CHAOS IN CAPE TOWN 

Love Island descended into chaos on Thursday night as a huge fight erupted between Haris Namani and Shaq Muhammad following the beer pong game. 

The two islanders had to be held apart by the other boys as they almost came to blows in a tense stand-off as they boys had a debrief about the earlier challenge.

The drama kicked off as Haris commented on new bombshell David’s steamy kiss with Shaq’s partner Tanya, causing Shaq to brand the TV salesman a ‘s**t stirrer’.

Newcomer David had earlier been dared to kiss the islander he fancies the most for 30 seconds, and after flirting up a storm with Tanya, it was inevitable that he was going to pick her – much to Shaq’s chagrin.

And as the boys sat down later to discuss the events of the game, Haris asked David what he made of the kiss, causing Shaq to accuse him to trying to cause trouble. 

The two then begin arguing and throwing insults at each other, with things becoming more and more heated.

Haris was heard telling the airport security officer to ‘Shut the f**k up’, to which Shaq angrily responded: ‘You shut the f**k up you f**king p****’

Haris then ordered Shaq not to speak to him like that, with Shag fuming: ‘I’ll speak to you however I want!’ 

The other boys were then forced to then step in and stop things from escalating, with Haris and Shaq dragged to separate parts of the villa to keep them apart.

The girls, who were having their own chats elsewhere, watched on in shock as things kicked off among the lads. 

Taking to Twitter following the shock scenes, viewers were quick to share their thoughts on what went down.

One tweeted: ‘Haris knew he was wrong for that. If he really cared to know he could have asked David alone. Showed he has no respect for Shaq. And low key Tanya is mugging Shaq off. I won’t blame him if he starts exploring his options.’

While another commented: ‘Haris wanted a reaction from shaq.’

‘So Haris purposely asked a question that would trigger Shaq and he also told Shaq to shut the f up first,’ wrote a third.

‘That fight between shaq and haris was so random but I’m here for it,’ shared a fourth fan.

With another adding: I don’t believe this tension between Haris and Shaq came out of nowhere. They’re editing out the good stuff.’
