Love Island fans were stunned when one of the contestants appeared to develop an Irish accent out of nowhere .

There was There’s a lot going on in Friday’s episode from Love Island, with a double eliminationtears, and movie nightand you could easily blink and miss some of the drama.

But fans are currently baffled by something they heard – an Irish accent, to be precise, and not Dubliner Dami’s.

In the episode, the islanders got together for Movie Night, with a clip showing Ekin-Su Cülcüloğlu getting close to George Tasker in house love.

And even though it saw her get out of bed and tell him they were “just friends,” it seemed… something happened—which prompted Davide Sanclimenti to call her a “liar” again.

But when Ekin-Su replied, “Nothing happened!” she sounded a little… well, different.

The clip was shared on Twitter by Irish news reporter Gavan Reilly, who asked: ‘Did they get an Irishman to copy Ekin-Su here?’

He was far from the only person who was, with viewers reacting en masse to say they heard it too.

Perhaps unsurprisingly, many compared her to Longford icon Maura Higgins, who appeared on the show in 2018.

Fans joked that the star was ‘possessed’ by the ghost of Maura Higgins (ITV/REX Photo)

“Ekinsu’s face but Maura’s voice,” one wrote, while another joked, “She was possessed by the ghost of Maura Higgins.”

“I thought it was Maura Higgins,” said another, adding, “I literally thought it was a @MauraHiggins voiceover.”

One user called the Turkish soap star ‘Feckin-Su’ brilliant, which frankly caught on.

Listening to the clip, it really does sound like Ekin-Su putting on a seriously convincing Irish accent.

And since she was once Miss Ireland in the Miss Universe pageant (no, really!), you never know — maybe she’s picked up the lingo.

There were plenty of bombshells from the latest Love Island episode, but there’s a lot more to come on Sunday, where viewers will witness the full Movie Night fallout.

Much more drama is promised in the next episode of Love Island (Picture: ITV)

A first look that aired at the end of the episode shows that more Casa Amor clips will be shown to the islanders, revealing more lies and secrets.

The preview promises “more secrets, more lies will be revealed,” while Luca is once again furious: “If she tries to play it out against me, I’ll fucking explode.”

In addition, you may see Indiyah remark angrily, “Don’t worry, I’ll meet you later, it’s okay.”

Of course, viewers already know about Dami’s cheeky three-way kiss – could this be when Indiyah finds out?

Love Island continues on Sunday at 9pm on ITV2
