Jacques O’Neill revealed his reason for quitting Love Islandexplaining to Paige Thorne in tearful scenes where he didn’t feel like he was himself.
The previous evening Jacques was furious when he heard what a bomb Adam Collard said angrily about him to Paige Tell Billy Brown he should ‘f**k off’ so that he could only talk to her about what had been said.
Paige later told him how she wished he would behave differently in the situation and remain calm, which led to friction between them that lasted until morning.
The next morning, Jacques was still in a discouraged mood and started his day by opening up to Luca, who gave him a hug in the bedroom.
He later took Paige out for a chat on the patio after admitting he didn’t want to ruin it between them because he cared so much about her.
Jacques revealed to Paige that although he wished he could finish his trip to Love Island with her, he would be leaving the villa that day.
As Paige began to cry, Jacques urged her to continue on her Love Island journey and “don’t think about him” when he was gone.
‘Do what you have to do. You just do what you have to do. Don’t even think about me when I leave,” he said, as she answered through her tears, “Are you kidding?”
Jacques explained that lately he hadn’t felt like himself and that the only way to “come back to myself” was to go home.
Paige confessed to feeling “guilty,” while Jacques assured her that she had nothing to feel guilty about by choosing to stay.
“It’s the only way to get to myself… I can’t go on like this,” Jacques told Paige, before calling the rest of the islanders to the fire pit to announce that he was on his way home.
More to follow.
Love Island returns tomorrow at 9pm on ITV2 and ITV Hub.
