Despite Jacques being Gemma’s ex, he and Luca were close friends during their stay at the villa.
So when Jacques decided he had to leaveLuca was heartbroken.
F**king hell Jacques. I don’t even think I’d get mad if Gemma left. It won’t be the same without you,’ he told him.
“If it wasn’t for Gem, I would have walked out the door with him,” he added in the beach hut. “He made the right decision in the end, and as long as he’s happy I’m happy. He means a lot to me and I can’t wait to see him on the outside.”
Fans were heartbroken for both of them, with one writing, “NOT I’m Sobbing OVER LUCA LOSING JACQUES.”
Another said, “luca and jacques are killing me,” while another added, “Why did I cry when Jacques and Luca parted.”
Jacques decided to leave the villa for his sanity, after admitting he wasn’t himself.
Paige confessed to feeling “guilty,” while Jacques assured her that she had nothing to feel guilty about by choosing to stay.
“It’s the only way to get to myself… I can’t go on like this,” Jacques told Paige, before calling the rest of the islanders to the fire pit to announce that he was on his way home.
A Love Island spokesperson said: ‘Jacques has made the decision to leave the Villa.
“He will explain his reasons to the Islanders on tonight’s episode. We fully support his decision and look forward to the future for Jacques.”
Love Island continues Wednesday night at 9pm on ITV2.
