Major fire breaks out in apartment block in Bromley, South London | UK News

Images show thick plumes of smoke coming from two apartments on the tenth and eleventh floors

A block of flats has caught fire in South London, with flames and smoke visible from the top-floor flats.

Images show thick plumes of smoke billowing from two flats on the tenth and eleventh floors of St Marks Square in Bromley.

This morning eight fire engines arrived on the scene.

London The fire service said: 'Twelve fire engines and around 80 firefighters are battling a fire at a block of flats on St Marks Square in Bromley.

'Two apartments on the tenth and eleventh floors are on fire.

'One of the Brigade's 32-metre-long revolving ladders is being used on site to fight the fire from above.

'Officers took the first of 16 calls at 9.52am. Crews from Bromley, Beckenham, Woodside and surrounding fire stations are on the scene.'
