General Hospital actor Johnny Wactor has died, it has been confirmed.
The 37-year-old TV star – who appeared in almost 200 episodes of the US series – was shot dead in central Los Angeles early on Saturday morning (May 26).
His mother, Scarlett, confirmed the tragic news TMZ.
She said Wactor was with a co-worker when three men tried to steal his catalytic converter.
According to his mother, Wactor did not fight, but the men shot him before shooting away.
He was rushed to the hospital by paramedics just after 3 a.m. PT, but was sadly pronounced dead.
Police have not yet released any details about the suspects, but Wactor's mother is hopeful that those responsible will be caught soon.
In addition to his role on General Hospital, Wactor also appeared in Westworld, NCIS, Criminal Minds and The OA.
However, his character Brando Corbin is what he is most known for.
On the show, Brando was married to Sasha Corbin, who struggled with drug addiction.
He played the role from 2020 to 2022, when the character was written out.
Wactor made his final appearance on September 20 of that year, when Brando was murdered.
Fans have noticed an eerie similarity between his on-screen death and the gruesome circumstances in which Wactor himself was killed, given how Brando was stabbed by a mysterious killer with a hook before suffering a fatal attack.
Wactor is also survived by two younger brothers, Lance and Grant.
After news of Wactor's death broke, fans took to X to express their sadness and shock.
'Rest in peace, Johnny. Such a terrible thing. Prayers for his family,” bellainamorata6 wrote.
'May he rest in peace. I know my mother will be sad when she reads this. She still watches GH,” Taecmetohell added.
'This is so senselessly tragic. Love and light to his family and the cast and crew as they bear yet another loss,” StuckNPortChuck said.
Indeed, Wactor is one of several General Hospital actors to have passed away in recent months.
Other losses included Beth Peters, who played Mrs. Whitaker and died at the age of 92 after a short illness, plus Terry Brock actress Robyn Bernard, who died at the age of 64.
