A man has been arrested and police have launched a murder investigation after the body of a 21-year-old woman was found days after she was reported missing in London.
Hina Bashir disappeared from Ilford, east London, earlier this week, prompting police to look for her.
They have now arrested a 36-year-old man on suspicion of murder after a woman’s body was found early in the morning in Havering, also east London.
The metropolitan police says that although formal identification has yet to take place, they have informed Ms Bashir’s family, who are supported by specialist agents.

The police said they “trusted” that the man and Hina knew each other and have taken him into custody.
It has not confirmed exactly where the body was found.
Detective Chief Inspector Dave Whellams, of the Met’s Specialist Crime Command, said: “My thoughts are with Hina’s family who have suffered a terrible loss. We will provide them with all possible support.
“This is a rapidly evolving investigation and a man is in custody. We are convinced that this man and Hina knew each other.
“As our investigation progresses, we will work to better understand what happened to Hina, not only in the past few days, but also in the weeks leading up to this horrific incident.
“I would urge anyone who thinks they have information to help us come forward.”
