A man has been charged with the murder of a father of two who he stabbed to death after following him home from a pub where they were arguing.

Grant Bradley, 46, is charged with the murder of Marcus Dunkerton, 40, in Charfield, Gloucestershire, on Friday.

Detectives believe both men may have been involved in a previous incident at a village pub called the Railway Tavern and are looking for witnesses.

Emergency services were called to Thames Close at just before 11pm, where the alleged victim was found with injuries.

According to Avon and Somerset Police, he could not be rescued and died at the scene.

An autopsy has since determined that Mr Dunkerton had been stabbed multiple times, with one wound found to be fatal, police added in a statement.

Bradley was arrested around 11:30 p.m. Friday and is still in custody.

He is also charged with possession of an assault weapon and is due to appear in Bristol court on Monday.

An employee of the Railway Tavern told The Sun that both men were “off their faces”.

“They’re both very normal, likeable guys, but in the booze they started arguing about something stupid, I don’t know what, and within seconds they were punching each other,” they added. “It started from scratch.”

Detective Chief Inspector Phil Walker said: “Our hearts go out to Marcus’ family as they endure such a devastating loss.

“They are supported by specially trained agents and have asked for privacy in their grief.

“We continue to gather evidence to help us understand what happened. There are reports of an earlier incident involving the two men at the Railway Tavern in Wotton Road, Charfield.

“I would ask anyone who was in the pub between 9pm and 11pm Friday night to get in touch, if they haven’t already spoken to officers.

“We’d also like to hear from anyone who has seen or has CCTV footage, dashcam or doorbell footage of a man walking from the pub to Thames Close, or Bradley leaving that address.”
