The pit bull had belonged to Marina’s stepson, who died tragically in a motorcycle accident just two weeks before the harrowing attack.

The beast mauled Verriest some time before her husband returned home on Wednesday, who found the beast still dragging her body through their backyard.

She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services at the Nassau County residence, New York.

“The scene was pretty horrific,” Nassau County Police Commissioner Patrick Ryder said The New York Post.

“We don’t know what time the attack took place, but there was clearly a lot of mutilation on the body, legs and face.”

The mutt was shot dead by police after attacking officers as they arrived at the creepy New York scene.

The cop who shot the pit bull is being referred for treatment after being traumatized by the carnivorous dog.

Ryder said: “The officer saw something very traumatic. We take care of our officers and make sure they are okay.”
