Armed police officers are at the scene of a shooting near Rolleston.
A man has been seriously injured after being shot and killed in a building on Maddisons Rd near Rolleston, Canterbury on Saturday.
Emergency services were called to the incident at 11:40 a.m.
The injured man traveled to an address in Hornby after being shot before calling an ambulance, a police spokesman said.

The spokesman said the man’s injuries are not life-threatening and only one person was injured in the incident.
“Police are in the process of determining the circumstances leading up to the incident, but initial indications are that people who knew each other were involved,” they said.
Police are investigating to determine the circumstances and who was responsible, she said.
A neighbor told stuff she returned home to find three police cars outside the property but were unaware of what had happened.
A St John spokesman said they responded with one ambulance and assessed and treated one patient with serious injuries at Christchurch Hospital.
