Manchester United have held initial talks with Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart about a move to Old Trafford.

Erik ten Hag is eager to bring in a versatile attacker this summer, as the club needs more firepower due to the uncertainty surrounding Cristiano Ronaldofuture at the club.

Sky Germany United report has now identified 25-year-old Kalajdzic as a summer transfer target.

The Austria international has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich in recent seasons as a possible long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski.

Bayern would not be interested in his services at this point, however, as Borussia Dortmund have just recruited Sebastien Haller to lead their attack.

United have expressed interest in the striker who has scored 22 goals in 48 Bundesliga games, but Stuttgart has not yet received any offers.

But the report adds that a move to the Premier League is now Kalajdzic’s ‘main target’, with West Ham United, Brighton and Southampton also interested in his services.

United made one purchase this summer with Tyrell Malacia who came over from Feyenoord.

On Monday, Erik ten Hag mentioned midfield and attack as two areas he would like to strengthen before the start of the season.

“We want to have the right players,” said Ten Hag.

“We have a very good squad, we are working to develop our way of playing and if the opportunity arises, we will strike” [to sign new players]†

“I said we are definitely looking for midfield players and I think we need attacking. We still work for players.”
