ATHLETICS: The Macdermids continue their impressive form on their European tour.
Kara competed in Birmingham last Wednesday, winning the 1500m in 4mins 18.45sec, and back in Belgium on Saturday she ran a personal best in Kortrijk, Belgium, winning the 800m in 2min and 5.7sec.
Noah ran in the 1500m and finished second in his heat in 3min and 47.71sec.

Kara is sixth in the 800m list and fourth in the 1500m. Noah is 31st in the 800m, 24th in the 1500m and 27th in the 3000m.
Other Manawatū athletes finishing in the top 20 include Angus Lyver, who is 10th in the 100m, fifth in 200m, ninth in the long jump and 16th in the javelin throw.
Aden Porritt is the 12th ranked 400m runner.
Benjamin Wall is 11th in the 800m and 13th in the 1500m.
In the women’s category, Cheyelle Collette is 11th in the 100m and sixth in the 200m, while sister Addira is 14th in the 100m and eighth in the 200m.
Kimberley Wash is 10th in the 400m.
♦ Feilding Moa members put in an outstanding performance at the Manawatū-Whanganui cross-country championships held under warm and sunny skies last Saturday at Bason Botanic Gardens in Whanganui.

♦ Sunday is the second round of the winter track series at 1:00 PM on the Manawatū Community Athletics Track.
The program consists of 60m, 1500m, 400m and the combined distance option of 1000m, 3000m or 5000m.
The field events are shot put, high jump, long jump, discus throw and triple jump.
♦ The World Athletics Championships are underway in Oregon with some of our athletes last Friday, the opening day of qualifying rounds.
Our three female hammer throwers Nicole Bradley, Lauren Bruce and Julia Ratcliffe, Hamish Kerr in the high jump and Eddie Osei-Nketia in the men’s 100m took part in the morning session.
Our shot putters Tom Walsh, Jacko Gill and Maddi Wesche had their qualifying rounds in the afternoon, as did pole vaulters Olivia Mc Taggart and Imogen Ayris.
Quentin Rew competed in one of the first finals, the 20km race walk.
Zoe Hobbs will be in the 100m heats on Saturday, while Osei-Nketia will be in the semi-finals and finals if he qualifies.
Maddi Wesche has her shot final and Sam Tanner will start in the 1500m heats.
Sunday should be a busy day with the men’s shot final, the women’s pole vault final, the men’s 1500m semi-finals and the women’s 100m semi-finals and final.
On Monday, Hamish Kerr is in the high jump final and Georgia Hulls in her 200m series.
