Manchester United have been discussing a possible move for Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko as they look for another option and a possible replacement for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Ronaldo is trying to fight his way out of Old Trafford, with the intention of leaving the club a year before his contract expires.

The Red Devils have no interest in selling him and have absolutely no interest in taking him out of his contract a year early, so there is currently a stalemate between the Red Devils and the 37-year-old.

Whether the Portuguese superstar stays or goes, United manager Erik ten Hag has made it clear he wants more options in attack, with senior options running short after Edinson Cavani’s departure.

the athletic report that there have been talks of a move for 19-year-old Sesko, although little progress has been made towards a possible deal.

Salzburg does not want to sell the teenage striker at all and it would take a hefty offer for the Red Devils to get their hands on their target this summer.

That is not beyond United’s reach, but they may have hoped to take the teenager out of the Austrian league for a more reasonable price.

Sesko is a 6’4″ striker who has already played 13 caps for Slovenia and has scored two goals after turning only 19 in May this year.

He scored 11 goals in all competitions last season and has started this season at Salzburg with two goals in two games, also scoring the only goal in Wednesday’s friendly against Liverpool.
