Manu Kumar Jain has resigned from his position as Global VP at Xiaomi, although his name was recently linked to violating Indian exchange laws. The Indian Enforcement Directorate is looking into the relationship between the Chinese company and its Indian division and royalty payments going both ways, and the now former director has been operating out of Dubai for the past few years.

During Jain’s time at Xiaomi India, the company became the top smartphone brand “without spending advertising money,” the director added. The branch expansion generated more than 50,000 jobs and “100% of smartphones and smart TVs” were made in India, another campaign for which Jain took credit.
