Marcel Sabitzer couldn’t hide his joy after scoring his first goal for Manchester United on Sunday FA cup quarter-final victory over Fulham.

The Red Devils went 1-0 down, but after Fulham sent off two players and their manager, Eric ten Hag‘s side came back to win 3-1 at Old Trafford.

Sabitzer, who joined United on loan from Bayern Munich in the January transfer window, scored the goal to put United 2-1 ahead and upend the score.

Speaking to ITV after the game, the 29-year-old Austria international was questioned about his first goal since arriving at the club and said: ‘Huge. I’m so happy!

‘An important. I am very happy now. Huge win. We wanted to go back to Wembley, we did it.

‘[At] 1-0 down, it was difficult and tough, but we came back and won.’

Asked about the penalty incident that sent off Fulham star Willian for handball, Sabitzer added: ‘I didn’t see it.

“The referee said so, so we go with it. I am focused on the game. It was easier for us. We had to be focused on the game and the result.’

After Willian was shown the red card, Aleksandar Mitrovic was sent off for dissent before manager Silva was also sacked in a frantic 60-second period.

Sabitzer downplayed suggestions that Fulham lost the game over that series of incidents and instead focused on United’s performance.

“We won,” he said. We scored three, they scored one. We were concentrated, focused to the end.

“I think it was a deserved win. We came back and that’s the most important thing.’

United now face Brighton in the semi-final as they look to win their second trophy of the season, having won the Carabao Cup last month.
