In an open letter shared on Instagram, the stalwart journalist thanked his supporters and stated that he was “willing to stand his ground.”

He wrote: “I lost my job at Good Morning Britain because I chose not to apologize for not believing Meghan Markle’s claims in her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Thus, I became the latest “victim” of the culture of cancellation permeating our country every minute, every hour, every day. Although of course I don’t consider myself a victim, nor as canceled.’

Piers had said he did not believe the Duchess’s comments in her interview with Winfrey, in which she spoke about her mental health and suicidal thoughts.

The 55-year-old left his position shortly afterwards after storming the set following an argument with weatherman Alex Beresford about his comments about Meghan, which led to more than 41,000 complaints to Ofcom.
