Money-saving expert Martin Lewis said he would inquire prince charles on the cost of living crisis when he received his CBE.

The broadcaster and the website’s founder warned that energy problems could potentially “become more dangerous to lives than the pandemic.”

He was honored today by the Prince of Wales at Windsor Castle.

Speaking at Windsor, Mr Lewis said: ‘I would have been much happier if I had come to claim my honor and have a nice day and not talk about it because the world is beautiful, but the world is at this moment not great.

“And I think this is potentially more dangerous to lives than the pandemic.

“It is a catastrophic problem that the country will face this winter.

“I am shamelessly, deliberately, provocatively, now sounding the alarm. And I will do that with everyone.

“And when you heard the Prince of Wales hear of such a moment, I thought it was the right time to take advantage.”

he criticized the MPs competing in the Conservative Party leadership contest – saying there has been a ‘deafening silence’ about how they would handle the energy crisis.

Mr Lewis said: “It seems to me that the first part of the debate that each of these candidates should answer is: what are you going to do to help people with the catastrophe that is coming unless it is handled properly, people will starve and freeze?

‘The first question I would like to hear them answer is: what are you going to do about the energy bill?

‘Taxation doesn’t help everyone. It does not help people with an AOW benefit, it does not help people with general credit. I leave others to the inflation problem.

‘So for me, this absolutely has to be at the center of the agenda.’

He claimed, although the provisions had already been put in place – such as: an energy premium of €400 for each household – help, the predicted rise in bills has already eaten the help.

Mr Lewis, who yesterday… warned that ‘warm banks’ may be needed in winter like food banks, said he is motivated to continue lobbying the government about the crisis.

“If you had the number of desperate people telling you their stories every day, and you knew you had a voice that could be magnified because of the work I’ve done,” he added.

“I think I would do away with my responsibility if I didn’t use that voice now.

“So even though I’m tired and going to take some time off this summer, I think it’s a dutiful responsibility.

“If you see a ship about to enter an iceberg, don’t go ‘phew’, you sound the goddamn alarm bell, and I’m ringing the alarm now.”

Mr Lewis was given the honor of Commander of the Most Excellent Order of the British Empire which is awarded to individuals for holding a prominent role at the national level or a leadership role at the regional level.
