A Sunday Times bestselling author took to Twitter with images of the fire as he landed at the UK’s largest airport around 5pm.

Robert Harris said: ‘Today he comes in just before 5 pm to land at Heathrow. The scorched fields. The fire!’

The crew removed a number of gas cylinders involved in the fire, as some can explode when exposed to heat.

About 44 calls were made to 999 at around 4.30pm, with crews from Hillingdon, Kingston, Southall, Surbiton, Tooting and surrounding fire stations on the scene.

The cause of the fire is unknown at this time.
